Spike allows you to measure and locate an object simply by taking a photo with your smartphone or tablet. From that photo, you can capture real-time measurements including areas, elevations, distances between two points, and GPS location.
The Spike laser device works with both Apple iOS and Google Android smartphones and tablets and is available with three different mounting options. The Spike laser device pairs with your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. Spike’s laser rangefinder works together with your smartphone or tablet’s camera, GPS, compass, and Internet connection.
Spike gives you the flexibility to measure from the Spike mobile app or Spike Cloud. Photo Measure: real-time measurements from a photo
With Spike, your time to measure an object is reduced to minutes. Simply take a photo of the object you want to measure, such as a building or wall, using the Spike app and your smartphone or tablet. From that photo, capture measurements instantly including areas, heights, widths, and lengths. Photos can be measured using the Spike mobile app or Cloud. You can access your photos at any time to remeasure, eliminating the need to return to the location for additional measurements.
Spike’s photo measurement capability allows you to measure hard-to-reach objects that would have otherwise required additional equipment, labour or tools. All it takes is one person to capture all the measurements you need, and while at a safe location and distance.
Point-to-Point: measure the distance between two objects
Measure the distance between two objects in seconds by capturing two photos. For example, to measure the distance between the side of a house and a nearby tree, a storefront and a sign in the parking lot, the side of a highway and a light pole, a utility line and a tree or the ground up to the roofline of a house.
Simply aim Spike at the first object, such as the side of a house, and take a photo. Then, aim at your second object, such as a tree, and take a photo. Spike then calculates the distance between those two objects. In addition to the distance measurement, Spike also calculates the linear distance for vertical and horizontal measurements.
Measure Remote Objects and Collect GPS/GNSS Location From A Distance
Replace expensive and complicated GPS handheld devices with Spike, and reduce field collection times. Quickly and safely capture a target’s location, your location, and a georeferenced image of the target, simply by taking a photo from a safe distance. Location data includes latitude, longitude, and altitude.
Data collected with Spike can be exported as a KMZ file or imported into GIS software, including Collector for ArcGIS and Survey123 for ArcGIS.
Measure and Share Using the Spike Cloud
Spike gives you the flexibility to measure and share from the Spike mobile app or Spike Cloud. The Spike Cloud allows you to view, measure, export, and share your Spike photos and measurements from your desktop. While in the field, take a photo using the Spike app and your mobile device, then upload your photos to the Cloud to measure and report back to the office.
The Spike Cloud offers premium features, such as export options for compatibility with the third-party design and CAD packages, adding notes to images, and advanced folder organization.
Export and share captured photos and measurements
