Wet Wipes – The Handy Guide
Your business needs the right cleaning materials, to maintain hygiene, to ensure safe and secure operation of equipment, and to carry out a range of other crucial tasks around your premises. This leads to an important question — which cleaning materials are right for your business?
Wet wipes, or industrial wipes, are ideal for many of the day-to-day tasks you experience during the operation of your company. If you would like to learn more about why these simple, yet effective, cleaning supplies can make such a big difference to your organisation, read on. We have compiled this handy guide, telling you all you need to know about the humble, and yet also mighty, wet wipe.
The Industrial Wipe Conundrum
Of course, finding the ideal cleaning material for our home is important, but in the workplace, there are other factors to consider. Cost-effectiveness becomes particularly important, as the bottom line is always an important consideration for your company. Other things, such as business reputation, and regulatory compliance, also play a big part in your decision.
This is the conundrum that business owners face — how do find a cleaning material that adequately covers all of these bases? Well, in this guide, we are going to examine how wet wipes achieve this, and demonstrate why they are the right choice for your business.
The Benefits of Wet Wipes
Why is it that wet wipes represent the best possible cleaning advantages to businesses? What exactly is it that sets them apart from other cleaning materials in the field? In this section, we’ll take a look at some of the key benefits of wet wipes, to help you understand why they are the superior choice for your business.
Time-saving and efficiency
Time really is money in business, which is why you want your teams to be operating at maximum efficiency, so that your organisation can work at an optimal level. This is one of the reasons why wet wipes are such a superior choice for cleaning. Rather than simply moving dust and particles around the space, they are adept at effectively removing it, reducing the time you and your team spend on the task. By optimising your efficiency in this way, you are laying the groundwork for a highly effective organisation.
Better standards of hygiene
We’ve established that wet industrial wipes save time, but there is far more to it than this. They are also highly effective cleaning materials, which ensures that your organisation, your teams, your equipment, and your premises, all adhere to the highest standards of hygiene. This is crucial when it comes to keeping you, your team, your partners, and your customers safe, as well as maintaining your business’ reputation and making sure your company is up to code.
Delicate options for precision cleaning
Some components need a careful and considered approach during cleaning. While heavy-duty cleaning materials are great for handling bulk tasks quickly and easily, they are not suitable for delicate and fragile components. For these jobs, you need a lighter touch, something that can be easily achieved when you use the right grade of industrial wipe.
Anti-static options for electrical applications
Certain types of component may be sensitive in different ways. For example, electrical components may be ultra-sensitive to surges in electricity, including small surges caused by static. Anti-static wipes eliminate this risk, enabling effective cleaning without fear of damage to potentially expensive equipment.
Different spec options available for different purposes
Industrial wipes are, in fact, a diverse cleaning tool, and can be divided into a number of different sub-categories. We’ll be exploring these in more detail later on this paper, but these different categories provide users with many different spec options, each one suited to a particular task or application.
High-quality industrial wipes are also extremely durable. This means that you can rely upon them to handle even the most difficult of tasks with aplomb, and without disintegrating after only a few wipes.
Just like anything you purchase for your business, cleaning equipment needs to be cost-effective. Industrial wipes excel in this regard. You will be able to purchase wet wipes at high volumes, achieving exactly the kind of coverage and capability you need for your business.
The Versatility of Industrial Wipes
Industrial wipes can be used in a broad variety of industries and fields, underlining the high versatility of these handy cleaning supplies. Some of the most common applications include the following;
• Engineering and manufacturing: Wipes are used for cleaning equipment, handling spills, and maintaining personal hygiene.
• Food services: Maintaining high levels of hygiene, absorbing spills – including oils, and keeping equipment in good working order.
• Transport and automotive: Wipes keep vehicles and equipment in good condition, and are used to prepare surfaces during manufacture.
• IT: Wipes can be used for general dusting, and for keeping sensitive components clean and well-maintained.
• General uses: Wipes are ideal for absorbing spills, cleaning wet floors, polishing metalwork, cleaning equipment, and maintaining high levels of hygiene across a number of different industries and fields. It is this versatility that makes them such a must-have item for businesses of all kinds.
Key Types of Wet Wipe
There are a number of different types of wet wipe on the market, each providing its own set of advantages and disadvantages to industry. Depending on the type of field you operate in, you might find one or more of these types particularly suited to your organisation.
Polyester knitted wiping cloth
A durable form of wipe that is designed in such a way that it is high resistant to wear and tear and works well for decontamination jobs. However, it is not designed to absorb water.
Polyester brocade wipes
Polyester brocade also resists wear and tear, and is suited for removing grease and other oil-based debris. Tends to be at the higher end of the pricing scale.
Polyester cloth wipes (woven)
Used for removing viscous build up such as glue and other substances. Less suited to removing dust and dry particles.
Wood pulp and polyester composite wipes (non-woven)
Highly suited for removing contaminants and pollutants. May not meet cleanliness and hygiene regulations in certain industries.
Full polyester wipes (non-woven)
More durable than composite wipes, but may not be suitable for removing water-based stains.
All wood pulp wipes (non-woven)
Very good for decontamination, and these wipes are resistant to organic solvents. However, like the wood pulp composite wipes, this type of cleaning material might not meet certain hygiene and cleanliness standards. It is important to double-check your own specific industry codes before you begin using wipes of this kind.
All PP wipes (non-woven)
Well suited to the removal of oil and other similar contaminants. However, this type of wipe is not good at absorbing water.
PU sponge wipes
Good for decontamination tasks, but not solvent resistant. The sponge wipes are also less durable than other types.
PVA sponge wipes
High water absorption rate and suitability for decontamination jobs, make this a versatile kind of wipe. However, PVA sponge may react with cleaning agents and solidify into a block, reducing its usability.
Cotton knit wipes (woven)
Resistant to high temperatures, which adds an extra level of versatility to the cotton knit wipe. Similar to the wood pulp and wood pulp composite type, this kind of wipe may not be suitable for all industries, as it may not be up to some hygiene codes and standards.
